Grays & Torreys Peak - Front Range - Colorado

August 16, 2019

The much anticipated day has finally arrived where I will begin my trip to Idaho Springs, Colorado for an attempt to summit Grays and Torreys Peak!  The past month leading up to this day has been a blur of training, running, and organizing gear before making the 12 Hour drive.  The time is finally here, however, and my spirits are high!  Making it through the next nine hours will be tough, and will mostly consist of squirming anxiously in my chair while running my gear list through my head.  Soon I'll have nothing to focus on but the open road in front of me, with thin air finally growing closer and closer!

Approximately nine hours into the drive, somewhere around the Colorado state line, lightning filled the sky and danced around for over an hour.

The road that leads to the Grays and Torreys trailhead. Stevens Gulch is not for the weak willed! Driving here is an adventure in itself! More videos in the daylight to come...

Waking up surrounded by the mountains at 10,400’ was one of the most amazing feelings.  This was my first time camping at high altitude, it was quite an experience!  The first morning I had to just lay back and stare out of the tent for a while, and take some time to soak it all in.
